Getting a greater "buzz" in your travel is more important than ever, but while 2009 may have been a getaway year downstairs, hotel prices for 2010 will probably not be too expensive. That's because, according to the recent Travelocity Traveler Trust Report, travel plans and attitudes for travelers are on the rise – and many hotels simply no longer bring prices down to record levels. However, great hotel prices are still there – you just need to know where and how – to find them. To implement your travel plans, follow these simple tips:
• Go straight to the source. Many hotel companies offer the best hotel rates – with a guarantee – to those who book on the company's website. For example, Marriott offers "Look No Further® Best Price Guarantee" – which essentially states that within 24 hours of booking your room, you will find a lower price for the same dates, hotel, and room type, and the company will match this price – and give you an additional discount of 25 %. (Rules and restrictions apply.)
Be flexible. Every traveler knows the hotel prices for the high season versus the high season and the days of the week for the weekend, so be aware of those planning your trip. If you are open to changing travel dates, you may be able to save large amounts in some of the most important hotels in the city.
Financial Zones. If you're traveling this weekend, check hotel rates in your destination's financial district. Hotel prices in these neighborhoods often drop during the weekend, but the financial areas of many major cities are relatively close to the most important areas of the city.
Staying in prosperous cities. Over the past few years, many cities have added a lot of hotel rooms – meaning that if you're traveling to Las Vegas, Phoenix or even New York, you might find a better deal out there than if you were traveling to a smaller city with fewer hotel rooms.
• If you are planning a romantic vacation or traveling with a special person, many hotels offer travel packages online only with unique amenities, such as vouchers that you can use for spa treatments, good food, or golf. And if you plan to use these specific facilities anyway – packages like these can help you save.
